WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
At Gou Braai, we’re not just in the firewood business—we’re about bringing people together around the warmth and tradition of a great braai. Our journey started humbly in June 2021, when we began delivering firewood with nothing more than my dad’s Pajero and a trailer. We had no prior sales experience or solid suppliers, but we had a passion for braai and a dream to build something special.
By June 2022, Gou Braai was gaining momentum. We bought our first bakkie and began expanding our supply network to include Wellington, Stellenbosch, Brackenfell, and Joostenberg. We started bagging firewood and supplying in bulk to a couple of shops. The growth was slow but steady, fueled by our dedication to quality and service.
In 2023, we made bigger moves—more shops, a broader marketing reach, and our own website to connect with customers. We even purchased our own trailer to handle larger loads, allowing us to scale up. Gou Braai isn’t the biggest firewood company out there just yet, but we’re committed to becoming your go-to supplier for premium firewood. Our roots may be simple, but our love for braai and quality wood runs deep.
Today, we’re proud to serve satisfied clients all across the region. While we strive for same-day delivery, our priority is ensuring you get the best service and wood possible. Every delivery is handled with care because, like you, we take a Saturday braai seriously.

I oversee the daily operations, from managing deliveries to making sure every piece of wood is up to our high standards. My job is to keep things on fire!
Kari
I'm the financial backbone of our operation, making sure everything from the cost of wood to employee paychecks is perfectly aligned. I keep things in check and help us grow sustainably without burning through our resources - pun intended!
